The Secret Scroll (Daughters of the Moon, 4)

secret scroll: a cool book!!
The fourth establishment of the Daughters Of The Moon series is one of the best books so far (with Possession not far behind). The book tells about Catty going back in time to meet her birth mother. The story evolves around Vanessa too. Obviously, she got herself a new boyfriend, Toby, (after breaking up with Micheal) and soon learns that he's a powerful regulator.

i LOVED this book!!!
Catty is a goddess, a daughter of the moon with a special power to go back in time. Catty doesnt know her birth mother or even where she came from. All she remembers is an explosion and fire. Finally she gets to go back in time and see her mother, and also gets the secret scroll.

Catty is now my favorite charater! She is so adventurous and daring..... i wish i could be like her! Shes not afraid to break the rules, and that comes in handy. I cant wait to read the next Daughters of the Moon book!!!!

Catty Cool
Chris and Catty sittin in a tree... Catty finally has a boyfriend, so why is he always taking off? Catty finally meets her mom, and gets a very disturbing secret. She also gets a scroll that allows her to defeat the atrox,...one problem she can't read it. It's a good book. I can't really say much else, cuz it's up to you to read it...so READ IT ALREADY!

SURPRISING TURNS!
Possession-book-rating:5 star Comments: The 8th and newest book to the exciting and magical series of Daughters of the Moon was probably one of my favorite. It had a very interesting plot and continued the love story between Serena and Stanton. Personally, Serena is my favorite goddess of them all. Anyhow, the story had many twists and turns as you read the captivating book. So many unexpected things around the corner. One of Lynne Ewing's best work!

Story: Serena is suddenly not acting the same all the time. She's become somewhat different. She's had strange dreams and eerie black outs after she helps an old woman. Serena finds herself chasing after her friends' boyfriends and going out of control. At first she thinks it's just stress, but as her symptoms get worse, Serena begins to believe there's a lot more to it. As you read along in the book, Serena discovers Stanton's hidden feelings and thoughts. Her choice when she turns 17 turns clear in the end and a very interesting preview of the following book makes you crave for more even after a very satisfying story.

An Excellent Book!
Have you ever been in a situation were you have to choose between the two most important things in you life that you LOVE? Well, that is how Serena Killingsworth feels. From the Series of "Daughters Of The Moon", I personally think this was the second best book written. (The first best was Book No. 2, also involving Serena!) Anyways, Serena starts having really wierd dreams where shes visiting places and finds evidence that's is true! Serena tries to recall the last thing she did before this problem happened, which was when a strange woman by the name of Aura gave here starange fluid to drink. Days later, she finds out that the concoction she was forced to drink was a special potion so the strange woman can abduct her body. (I know, this book reveiw sounds totally srange *LOL*) Anyway, Serena then finds out the onlt reason the woman is taking over her body was because she wan't to get into her boy-friends mind (Stanton, He is soooooooooooo cute!) to get her boy-friend out which happened to be the evil Lambert. Unsuccessfully, Stanton cannot stop Aura and Lambert is free. The only way Lambert can be defeted is if Stanton Joins power with the Key, Serena. I don't want to say toooo much, but that is was a GREAT book and I hope you all get a chance to read it! ...

Amazing Book
Serena has always been my favorite Goddess, with Catty not far behind. The book is amazing. I loved the twists and turns in it and how at some points you could hardly blink. Ewing is very talented and her books seem to hold a grip on reality, yet contain fantasy. I've now read all 8 that are out so far, and can hardly wait for #9, "The Choice". My friend got me to read them, I got my friend to, she got hers, etc. I love the series!

Things Unspoken
Published in Paperback by Chronicle Books (April, 2001)
Author: Anitra Peebles Sheen
Average review score:

Yes, Jorie is definitely a survivor
Jorie, the only female growing up in a motherless household, is telling this story and reflecting back on her childhood. Her mother dies when Jorie and her 2 brothers are very young to be cared for by a father who is a very busy family physician, never knowing when he'll get to go home or when he might be called out for an emergency or child birth. He's a father that in my opinion is rather selfish at times, putting his life first mainly through his profession. There's no hugs and kisses passed around as well as very fe, if any, compliments to the children. The children grow up with a wide range of housekeepers/caretakers with some pretty sad treatment from some resulting with bruises and dangerous rides in cars as well as the boys being tied up to their bed posts or put in closets.
This is an incredibule book and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Every page was interesting. There's only one other book, White Oleander, I ever read that is similar in the respect of very young children fighting all odds and being survivors who use their upbringing in the "school-of-hard-knocks" to their advantage in adulthood.
In a nutshell, this is a story of a single parent doing the best job he knew how to do. He's a good father and provider but he's not a good "mother" at all. He leaves a lot of emotions unspoken as well as no "motherly" advice.
GREAT BOOK.......Read it, you won't be disappointed.

Very enjoyable reading
From the very first chapter of this book I was anxious to continue reading it. I found it to be a heart-warming and delightful story. You fall in love with the sweet little girl and enjoy her tender tales of growing up.

I recommend "Things Unspoken" to many of my friends to read. Everyone has enjoyed the book and thanked me for telling them about it.

Flawless Storytelling
I love finding books like this. Things Unspoken is storytelling at it's best, simple and beautifully written. The story of three motherless children left to essentially fend for themselves while their physician father pursues his career and his 'things unspoken", is both heartbreaking and uplifting. Set in the 1950's and 60's, Jorie and her brothers experience a strange life, removed of friends and family, their closest mother figure an alcoholic housekeeper who eventually like the others must be sent away. Desperate for the approval and affection of their distant (and in today's perspective), negligent father, each child must find their own way to deal with the hand they have been dealt. This novel could have been weepy and melodramatic, but it is neither. The author does not pursue the "dysfunction of the week" route, she tells us the story and allows the reader to watch what unfolds. This is a superb novel. There is a reason the reviewers are all giving it 5 stars. Read it now!

Into the Cold Fire (Daughters of the Moon #2)

Into the Cold Fire did not leave me cold-it was really good!
I have read three of the books from this series and while they have not blown me away they are fun reads. The books are about 4 girls living in L.A. who find out that they are more then ordinary girls, that they are in fact quite special-they are daughters of the moon. These books though are more then just about 4 girls with magic powers fighting the evil atrox. They are about finding the goddess within oneself, the part that is courageous, and the part that is willingly to fight for something that one believes passionately in. To me the message is that every girl is a goddess in disguise. Like it says in this book, they don't look like goddesses (Serena has a nose ring for example and dresses like one character puts it "like a christmas tree". They can feel embarassed (Vanessa's feelings about dissapearing around Michael) and the mean, popular girl at school (who insecure inside) gets enjoyment by criticizing their clothing. She gets her just desserts though, just read the part involving the school pep rally and laught out loud! This is a great book and filled with funny parts like when Catty falls into a cafe after one of her time travels and how Serena's mind reading sends a nice guy she liked running in the opposite direction!!
She does meet someone else but this person is a mystery to her because all their thoughts are in arabic. This being unable to read their thoughts might put her in danger though (hint: he has a sun tattoo around his belly button while Serena is the daughter of the moon) and send her into the cold fire.

Serena Faces A Cold Fire...We Face It With Her!
This is the second installment of The Daughters Of The Moon series. This series is about four girls (primeraly) who are goddesses, daughters of the moon. There is Vanessa, whose power was to become invisible, Catty, who can travel through time, Serena, who can read minds, and last but not least Jimena who can see the future through preminititions.
This book is about Serena, who witnesses an ancient cermony performed by the Atrox, the evil thing sent to devour hope and to destroy the Daughters. There is a fire burning, a cold fire, in which a girl is standing, surrounded by followers of the Atrox. But she doesn't burn. Maggie, the Daughters "trainer" reveals that this ancient ritual is to make whichever of the Atrox's Followers will become immortal. But only few are chosen to become immortal...and it looks like Serena is one of them!
Then her best friend Jimena has a preminition of Serena standing in the cold fire, and gaining immortality and becoming a witch goddess, an evil Daughter-turned-evil. Will this happen? Will Serena become evil? Find out to read.
This book, with pleasing dialouge and an entertaining plot, will best be understood if read after the first one. Read this book to discover the beginning of Lynne's fantastic stories of a few very special girls.

An AWESOME book!!
Serena Killingsworth is a Daughter of the Moon. Her three best friends Catty, Vanessa and Jimena all have special powers. Serena can read minds. Together they protect the world from an ancient evil, the Atrox who has servents called Followers that try to distroy the Daughters and the world of light. Serena is the key who, if she is distroyed or becomes a Follower, the dark side will be stronger then ever. At school, she meets Zahi who she thinks is the perfect guy. Serena cant read his thoughts because they are in French and Arabic. But when Stanton, a Follower with one foot in good, one in evil warns her that there is something about Zahi that puts Serena and The Daughters in great danger...
When Jimena has a premonition of Serena betraying the daughters, they must band together to stop her before it is too late.
In the mean while, Serena struggles with the temptation of the Atrox and her possible love for Stanton in a forbbiden relationship...
This book is definatly the best in the series! I would give it a ten if I could. I can say how much you should read this book!

Acting Is Everything: An Actor's Guidebook for a Successful Career in Los Angeles
Published in Paperback by September Publishing (October, 1996)
Author: Judy Kerr
Average review score:

You must have this book.
I do not know Judy Kerr personally, but I do know she has created the most honest up-to-date powerful book/bible for the beginning or working actor in America.

I was lost in L.A. until I bought this book. She has LIFETIMES of knowledge and connections wrapped up for you to read/resource. My friends who have been at the acting game for years and years know much less than me after only a month.

Judy has every tool a motivated actor needs to be successful in this book. Everything is current with incredible web-sites, phone numbers, resources, groups and written word from true professionals in the busines. Thank you Judy, you have saved me time, energy, money, frustration and given me confidence to achieve my goals. Knowing what what I know now after reading most of the book, I would have spent thousands for this knowledge.

The best acting book I've ever read
Wow! This book was so good and it was packed with so much information. I loved it. It tells you everything you'll need to know about acting. It starts off answering the questions of what is acting and can acting be taught followed by many quotes from famous actors. It discusses all the different types of acting teachers, like cold reading and audition technique teachers, private coaches, voice teachers, etc. It also goes into talking about photographers and agents. It goes over resumes and pictures and has samples of resumes and pictures. What I was most pleased with was the fact that she named several impressive and skillful acting coaches and photographers, etc. Plus, if you don't already live in California it has a section on how and when to move to California. She was very honest and positive which I greatly appreciated. She had so much information packed in this one book. It's definitely worth it's money. I can't even begin to tell you how excellent this book truly is. If you don't already have it, I highly recommend that you buy it as soon as possible.

Super Excellent, not only for L.A.
I find this book very useful. I don't live, nor plan to go to L.A.. I live in Miami and work for the spanish speaking market, and the information Judy provides in this book, is unbelievable. What I did was to apply the tips and information she gives, to my city. I had to do a little research for my area, but who cares if the spirit of the book is what counts.

I can't believe that someone took the time to do all the research Judy Kerr did, talk to all those people, compiled all those materials. After you read the book you will see that she didn't do this for the money, but for love of the art. If she does everything like this book, I supose she must be a profesional in the whole sense.

I recommend this book for the working actors and the serious aspiring actors. If you are not serious I advice you not to read this book, because after you finish it, you won't have an excuse to don't finding a job in acting .

Thank you Judy for this Book

WOW
ok maybe my name isn't the best right now. Those who have read will know what i am talking about. But OMG this story is good, but why does the ending hae to be so sad. i can't wait till the next one comes out.
So anyway the story is told by Jimena and at the begining you are already sent back in time to stop something from happeing that you will learn about as it happens again. It is totaly suspensful and i couldn't even pay attention in class a put a book in front of it and read it during class. That is how good it was

Excellent! Best yet!
WOW! i read this book within one day! - okay okay, i have done it before but this was something i couldnt put down. From the second i bought it to the second i was going to bed i didnt put it down. I delayed eating and my favorite tv shows. - All the daughters of the moon books i have read and loved. But this was far most my favorite one. This one is based on jimena who used to be the tuffest chola in la. Now she only uses the forces of good because she is a goddess, a daughter of the moon "tues dea filia lunae" but now, she has to go back and gang up with some very least likely people. We find out who the betrayer is. - and if you do happen to come across this review - and you havent read the serious, i suggest you do because it is so so so worth it. Dont just say "oh, sounds like [it's] for 10 year olds" - because its not. Im seventeen and i love it! Okay - im shutting up now.

The Choice
This edition of DOTM stars Jimena. In an attempt to save the other daughters she has Catty take her back in time to stop one of the Daughters from betraying the others. Unfortunately she lands in gang territory where she meets up with her old rival, Payasa. After a showdown Jimena makes her escape only to be caught by the cops and sent to jail. With the help of someone from the Daughters past (who I hope to see more of in the future) she escapes. Will she be able to stop the traitor? To find out you gotta read the book!

This book was amazing. The ending was a complete shock and so was the identity of the "traitor". I can't wait for Book 10: The Talisman.

The Sacrifice (Daughters of the Moon, 5)

Good or Evil?
Stanton has always been a faithful follower of the Atrox ever since the day he was forced into a change, but when he falls in love with Serena everything changes. He wants nothing more than to be with her but when he is, part of him wants to make her a follower, a servent of the Atrox. He knows that to be safe he can no longer see her and when a couple of old "friends" return to Stanton he realizes that their is a plot against the Daughters of the Moon that he must stop to save Serena. But will it work? What's more powerful? Stanton's love for Serena or his evil nature?

I found this book to be an impressive edition to the series. Stanton has always been a mysterious charecter that I've been interested in and it's good to see his story for once. This was a very good book though not as good as the last one, and it has a shocker ending that will really surprise you! If you're a fan of this series I reccomend reading this book. It's worth it!

A Battle Between Light and Dark......
This is by far the best book in the series, starring my favorite character: Stanton. In this book, you get to see what life is like for Stanton -- he doesn't want to do what he does, and he doesn't want to be evil, but there's nothing he can do about it -- and why he has so many inner-struggles with himself. You learn more about why he can't be with Serena; a Daughter of the Moon, and the one in the world he cares for most. While you read this book, you'll run across struggles for light and dark, and learn that everything is not always black and white; but can be many shades of gray. Stanton also gets a chance to become a normal person again. But what will happen if he does become regular again? What would the Atrox do? What would it do to Serena? And could Lambert (a member of the Inner Circle) destroy Stanton at last? The ending to this book will leave you chilled to the bone, and wondering what on earth will happen to Stanton next time.

He has to give up the life he has always known for his love
Stanton is a Follower to an ancient evil called the Atrox. Since the dawn of time, the Atrox has been jealous of the world of light, and it brought itself into being. Stanton was once a boy living in Western Europe with a father who was a great prince. Stanton's father raised up a crusade against the Atrox, but the Atrox kidnapped Stanton away in return. Stanton was taken into it's evil congregation against his will; thus he is 'invitus'.

Serena Killingsworth is a Daughter of the Moon. Her destiny is quite different from Stanton's. Blessed by the moon goddess Selene, Serena (along with Catty, Jimena, and Vanessa) was put on earth to spread hope. She is a goddess, with the special power to read minds. Serena and Stanton have fallen deeply in love with one another, but Stanton is trying to push her away. He tells her it is too dangerous; the Regulators would destroy them both if they learned of the truth.

Stanton feels the first tremor of warning flutter through the air on Halloween night. Stanton is worried about Serena and what might happen to her. Soon Malcolm, a Regulator whose butchery is legend, arrives. Stanton boldly accepts his fate, but when the dying Malcolm begs for help, Stanton is shocked. He tries to warn Stanton but Malcolm dies before he can. Stanton soon hears whispers growing from the underworld, and Cassandra tells him she has someone who wants to meet him...

Stanton would do anything to protect Serena, which is what I loved most about 'The Sacrifice'. It was albeit, sad, but if you read the next book in the series (The Lost One), you won't feel as sad (I don't want to give anything away), but this book was: WOW!

Night Shade (Daughters of the Moon, 3)

Jimena follows her heart straight to Tartarus.
Before Jimena Castillo found out about her true identity, she was part of a gang and considered the toughest chola in East L.A. But after finding her true identity as a Daughter of the Moon and why she has the power to see into the future, she started to rebuild her life. Everything was going pretty good until the love of her life, Veto, came back to her. The problem with this is that Veto has been dead for a year. Veto claims that he has been alive the entire time, but Vanessa, Serena, and Catty, the other three Daughters of the Moon, think he is working for the evil Atrox. Jimena insists that they are wrong. But when her love for Veto leads her to Tartarus, a dark abyss below Earth's surface, will she be able to fight the anger in her heart or will she give into it? If she does give into her anger she will make the Atrox so powerful that even the Daughters of the Moon would be unable to stop it. This book was a great addition to the Daughters of the Moon series, and if you liked the first two you should definitely read this one.

Jimena has to face a familliar figure from her past
Everyone knows Jimena as one of the must stubborn and bravest members of the daughters of the moon, but in this book we learn how she got her bravery. Before Jimena found out she was a Goddess she was one of the toughest girls in a gang. Everyone was afraid of her and she knew it. But now that she's shed her bad girl past, a famillar face is comign back to haunt her. It's Veto, a long lost dead boyfriend from her past. What is Veto? Is he real? Did he ever die? Is he back for good? Or is he just an evil tool of the atrox set out to destroy the goddesses. Jimena dosen't know but she's about to find out.

Like the last two books in the series Night shade is exciting and a page turner. I toatally reccomend this book for fans of the series and the supernatural. I can't wait to read the next book in the series, The Secret Scroll, which stars Catty.

A Lost Love.... a Traitor.......
In this cool book, Jimena meets her long lost love Veto. She can't beleive it. At first, she thinks Veto is some hallucination or a ghost. But he is neither. Jimena wants to believe that Veto is real, but somehow Veto has changed. Jimena makes a startling discovery that Veto may have helped the Atrox to destroy her and her sisters, and it may be too late to save the daughters of the moon. Was Veto decieved by the Atrox, or was Jimena decieved by Veto? If Veto is really dead, could there be chance that things might work out between Jimena and Collin? Could Jimena actually fall in love with Collin??????

Goddess of the Night (Daughters of the Moon, 1)

Vannessa of the Moon
This is the first book in a series of books dealing with the lives and challenges of four seemingly-normal teenage girls. At first glance you probably wouldnt notice anything peculiar about Vanessa, Catty, Serena, or Jimena. You would never guess the important roles they play in the lives of everyone living. These girls are the Daughters of the Moon. The mortal children of the moon goddess Selene sent down to earth to fight the forces of darkness, the Atrox. Each girl posses a gift. Serena can read minds, Vanessa can become invisivle at will, Jimena can see into the future, and Catty can travel through time. Each girl is unique and the girls must stay together to succeed in fighting the Atrox. Catty goes missing. Vanessa cant believe that her best friend since childhoodhad was gone. Had omething gone wrong in time travel? or had the Atrox found her....

Goddess of the Night
I love this series! This is the first book, Goddess of the Night. In it, Vanessa and her friend Catty both have a special power. Vanessa can become invisible, and Catty can travel back in time. Then, one day, Catty disappears. Two girls from school, Jimena and Serena take Vanessa to see a retired schoolteacher named Maggie. Maggie tells Vanessa that she, Catty, and the two other girls are Daughters of the Moon. Jimena and Serena have special powers, too. Jimena has premonitions (she can see the future) and Serena can read minds. Will Vanessa ever see Catty again? You'll have to read the book to find out!

First book in a great series
I just finished reading Goddess of the night about Vanessa and her friends. I can't wait to read the other books. All my friends are talking about the series. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I did. Vanessa has secret powers and doesn't understand them. Then she finds out what she is and it's hard for her to believe the truth but she meets new friends who are like her only they have powers that aren't the same as hers. It's tense and I liked it.

Good Book
I really like this series. It's about four, well after this book five daughters of the moon goddess. In these book Jimena, Serena, Vanessa, Catty, and now Tianna each have a special power to help them battle the Atrox, an ancient evil sent to destroy hope. Vanessa can become invisible, Catty can go back in time, Serena can read minds, Jimena had premonitions or she see's stuff that happens in the future, and Tianna can move tings with her mind. These books are all about their battles with followers (people who have devoted their life to the Atrox) and many other forms of evil. To find out more I highly suggest these books. They are really good!

Wowsers.
... I can't believe how good this book is!!! I have read the whole book about 5 times, and chapters 18+ about 100000000 times! (thats the best part... (; )

On to the book review-

Tianna wakes up. Who is she? Where is she? WHY IS SHE HERE? All of those questions are unanswerable. She finds a backpack, it has the nams "Tianna" on it, so she figures thats her name. She goes to school, and sees a guy, who is remotely cute running toward her. Who is he? The answer is Derek. He seems to like her, but on the other hand, there is Michael Saratoga- who seems to like her also... ;).

Tianna soon finds out that she has a power. a power to move things with her mind. Then this weird thing happens, and she goes into another dimension, and sees a girl there.

There are these weirdo girls (all popular, and pretty) following her and wanting to be her friend (she thinks their weird, but the girls are Vanessa, Jimena, and Serena) and soon they are part of the picture too...just read- and find out!

I like this book as the BEST because there is a mix of the daughters of the moon (thats the series, duh) and a new person, who is clueless and totally unkissed.(kinda like me!), so just READ IT! (or you will miss out- alot!)

Completely Surprising
I have to admit, when I first heard that book 6 was going to be about ANOTHER girl with powers, I was a little disappointed. I thought Ewing was trying to replace Catty, and there was no way I wanted that to happen. The four daughters of the moon were perfect the way they were, right? Wrong.

Tianna wakes up one day realizing that she has no idea who she is. She can't remember her name, who her parents are, or where she's from. She finds a piece of paper in her shoe with her name on it and realizes she must be Tianna. At least everyone at school knows that. Although she has no idea who any of the people at school are.

Soon she realizes that she has telekinetic powers, and that two strange guys are after her *who she later finds out are Followers*. Can Tianna avoid these two hooligans, while trying to find out who the mysterious girl in the black void is? Will she ever get her memory back?

This book is a must read for Lynne Ewing fans. The Lost One gives a fresh look on an already fresh series^_^ It has quickly become one of my favorites. Much love!
